Overview and Purpose
ELA is a course designed to strengthen student's reading and writing skills and support the implementation of Common Core reading, writing, and language standards. Students will read widely and deeply from among a broad range of challenging literary and informational texts . They will also integrate their knowledge by responding to the content through class discussions, multi-media activities and written responses.

Studysync - a comprehensive English Language Arts program for grades 6 through 12. It is hybrid print and digital and available from any tablet, desktop, or mobile device.
Ready Common Core Workbooks -an integrated program of assessment and data-driven instruction designed to supplement the teaching of CCSS.

Assignments --all assignments will be posted on Google classroom at the beginning of each week. This is our homebase for all communication. Code to join class will be emailed to students and sent home in instructional materials. Parents may also access google classroom to stay informed about their students progress- your student or the teacher can invite you to join.
Google Meets- Your google meets code will be emailed to you and is also avaialble in your google classroom.
Grading- We will adhere to the school district standards based grading policy . Please check your student’s progress, grades, missing work information on Google classroom parent access. Final grades will be available on Skyward family access.

Classroom procedures:
Before Class- Set yourself up in an area free of distractions
Bring materials to class
Arrive on time
Enter in a polite manner- Chromebooks muted
Be attentive ready to learn
During Class- Follow classroom and school rules
Listen carefully to directions
Read through the assignments and directions before you begin
Work to the best of his/her ability
Ask for help when needed
Stay in class until dismissed
After Class - Check assignment calendar in google classroom
Complete and turn in independent work daily
Gather school materials to bring back the next day
